The handsome knight brought the sword before him in his two hands, crouched, and slowly stepped forward towards the monster. To Allison, it looked like a huge Grizzly Bear, only uglier, with sharp teeth dripping saliva, red eyes, and talons as long as a man's arm. She almost wet her pants in fear, hiding behind the tree, trying to make herself look as small as possible, yet squinting her eyes open so she could watch.
The creature roared up on his two rear legs as the knight again stepped forward. Suddenly, the bear-like creatures arm swept forward and it's talons flashed through the air. The knight spun, just missing a slash from the sharp pointed talons. He thrust his sword forward and with a swinging motion, slicing the bear almost in two. It cried out, it's innards splashing to the ground. The stench was great. The knight thrust his sword one more time, into the creature's eye and the center of it's brain. It quieted and stilled.
Allison screamed.
The knight turned quickly to glance over his shoulder. Once noting the fine lady was okay, he turned back towards the creature. He cleaned his sword on the ground and slid it back home in his scabbard. With a grunt he stood up and removed a small bottle from a pocket on the scabbard. Opening the cork, he took out a pinch and threw a powder like substance over the corpse of the monster. There was a white puff of smoke, and then the creature was gone.
Allison screamed again.
